India

The Indian nation currently has a population over 1 billion inhabitants, making it the second most populous country in the world. Although there has been an increasing and consistent economical boost due to its industrial and technological achievements, India still has over 2 million orphan kids living on the streets.  They are often subjected to forced labor, sexual abuse and many other sorts of violence.
The Good Shepherd Society has been supporting the work and ministry of the Good News Center located in India and administered by Pastor Daniel Kudmar and family. This ministry has maintained three local orphanages, a small hospital and the Centre’s nationwide religious ministry. This longstanding partnership began the Good Shepherd Society’s foundation itself. In 1992, Pastor Horan Kumar (Pastor Daniel Kumar’s father) of the Good News Center met Dr. Debra Cole on an elevator in the middle of New York City. A friendship was formed, and she, along with two other friends, made the trip to India in 1994. The Good Shepherd’s Society was incorporated and began assisting the Indian based organization by receiving funds for its support in the United States.
Currently, Pastor Daniel Kumar and his wife Eunice are continuing to carry on the work started by Pastor Haron and his wife Saudimini in southeastern and northern India. With the help of new associate pastors they had trained, their ministry reached many thousand of souls for Christ and planted over thirty active churches in some of the most remote areas of the country.
The Kumars have constructed two orphanages in New Delhi. The children have become remarkable students and are a wonderful example to those around them. They have children gathered for an orphanage in Orissa, but are lacking funds for construction at present.  They are utilizing a rented facility.

In the United States, Kadmiel Kumar (Pastor Daniel Kumar’s brother) and wife Isoleth are involved on receiving  funds, as well as personally contributing to the cause in India.
The Good Shepherd’s Society in partnership with the Good News Center are working towards the perpetuation of this wonderful Christian ministry and assisting as many souls in need.
